The Process of Creating Lab Grown Diamonds

The diamonds we create in a lab are made from the small carbon seeds of pre-existing diamonds. Using advanced technology from either extreme pressure and heat or a chemical vapor deposition process, scientists mimic the method of natural diamond formation. It takes roughly six to ten weeks for a diamond to form. It’s then cut, polished, and set.

Diamonds created using the High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT) method or the Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) process are indistinguishable from natural diamonds to the naked eye. Only scientists can tell the difference through a growth condition analysis.
